The above is a study that attempts to prove that students can not multitask, or at least the majority of us. I was OK with the findings of the study that discussed texting while retaining information, until I read the last line that says,
“The level of laptop use was significantly and negatively related to student learning. The more students used their laptops in class, the lower their class performance.”
Unfortunately, the laptops are not going away, and the issue is not the use of laptops it is HOW the laptops are being used. Teachers and professors are going to have to revolutionize the way that they teach and make some fundamental changes in the way that they deliver content before they think that they will be able to throw laptops out the window. Likewise, the new generation will need to start learning what level of distraction that their brian can tolerate at an earlier age.
