Seven Guidelines for Designing Effective Course Pages for the Online Classroom | Faculty Focus.

I can not even start to stress how important it is that students are able to make sense out of your website.  Whether you use an LMS such as Schoology or Edmodo, or a plain HTML site, it is imperative that it is designed in a way that is easy for the kids to get around. Do you want your content divided by unit, chapter, semester? Is it visually appealing?  I get a lot of playful flack from my fellow teachers because I put cute clipart and give my worksheets a little added visual edge. At the end of the day, the kids appreciate the effort and it makes whatever you are looking at just a little bit more interesting.  Don’t underestimate the power of a good visual.
